A taste of the Port Nikau lifestyle
Ever wondered what it would be like to have a 36-hectare ecological sanctuary right on your doorstep? This is a lifestyle Port Nikau residents could certainly get used to.
As part of our Open Day, we are offering exclusive boat excursions to the beautiful Matakohe-Limestone Island in the heart of Whangārei Terenga Paraoa, Whangārei Harbour. Enjoy a 15-minute scenic cruise, an hour to explore the island and a return trip to the Port Nikau waterfront.
What you need to know
-
Trips will depart from the jetty by the Tide Gauge Building and run throughout the day from 9am until the last boat leaves the island at 1:45pm.
-
Each boat trip is strictly limited to 9 passengers.
-
The cost is free, but registration is essential to secure your seat. Bookings will be made on a first-in first-served basis.
- Visitors will need to be physically able to get on and off the boat and navigate the hiking tracks; all children must always be supervised by an adult.
- Before visiting the island, please make sure to check your bags and boats for unwanted pests like ants or lizards. Matakohe Limestone Island has a strict no-dogs, no-fires, and no-camping policy.
